Colombian-American, Born and Raised New Yorker and Attorney
Hello! Thank you for visiting my website and taking the time to learn more about my law practice and how I help my clients every single day. I am admitted to practice law in the State of New York, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. As my home page suggests, I am an elder law and trusts and estates attorney, who also practices family law. But, like everyone else, I am more than just my “day job.”
I was born and raised in a very ethnically diverse neighborhood in Queens, New York, the daughter of Colombian immigrants, where Spanish was my first language and spoken in the home. Thankfully, I was taught to appreciate and embrace my ethnic and cultural roots. My parents also taught me many things that have no specific cultural or ethnic origin, and the two that stand out to me are: integrity and that an honest day’s work is the best work there is.
But undoubtedly, I am an American, a New Yorker and very grateful for my upbringing in this city. It enriched my life and prepared me to practice law, my specific areas of specialty—and to counsel and advocate for a diverse clientele. It is true. I do not think any other city could have been a better teacher.
I attended St. Joan of Arc Parochial School for my primary education, followed by The Mary Louis Academy for high school, both in my home county of Queens. I graduated, with highest honors, from Fordham University in the Bronx, and then attended and graduated from Fordham University School of Law on the upper west side of Manhattan. New York really has been my home and teacher.
I decided to go to law school because I wanted to help people- it really is that simple. I also believed (and still do) that an attorney’s special skill set could best accomplish this for people in need. While practicing law is challenging, there is nothing I’d rather be doing. I like helping people and guiding them to a resolution or result that places them in a better life position than when I first encountered them.
In addition to practicing law, I also enjoy public speaking and teaching what I know to my attorney colleagues, law students and the general public. I fully anticipate more speaking engagements in the future and and welcome invitations to do so. I am also active on social media, so please click on the icons on the top of the page to learn more about me.
I invite you to explore my website further and if you believe I can of assistance to you in your legal matter, feel free to reach out.
Very truly yours
